You Belong
Dear Sister,
You do not have to constantly prove that you belong in the room.
I know the pressure to be twice as prepared, twice as polished, and twice as careful. The pressure
to make sure your work is flawless before you speak—the pressure to demonstrate your
competence before anyone questions it.
But hear me clearly:
You earned the degree.
You earned the position.
You earned the opportunity.
You belong at the table.
Your leadership does not require you to shrink yourself to make others comfortable. You can be
confident and collaborative. You can be assertive and compassionate. You can honor other
people's expertise without questioning your own.
Today, change the conversation you are having with yourself.
Instead of: “I hope they see that I'm capable.”
Say: “I know what I bring to this organization.”
Instead of: “Maybe I'm not ready.”
Ask: “What would I do if I trusted that I am?”
Your self-talk matters because the way you speak to yourself shapes the way you show up.
So stop questioning whether you belong.
Walk into the room knowing your value.
Then lead accordingly.
Affirmation: I belong. My voice matters. My expertise has value. I do not have to shrink to be
accepted.
Sister, take your seat.
