Stop Shrinking

Dear Sister,

Let's talk about shrinking.

You have an idea but wait for someone else to speak first.

You accomplish something significant but minimize it.

You receive recognition and immediately explain why “it wasn't that big of a deal.”

You are asked to lead, and your first response is, “Are you sure?”

Sister, stop shrinking.

There is a difference between humility and invisibility.

You can be humble and still acknowledge your accomplishments.

You can listen and still lead.

You can collaborate without minimizing your expertise.

Your next opportunity may require greater visibility—not because you need attention, but

because your leadership has value.

Start knowing your accomplishments.

Know the problems you solve.

Know the results you produce.

Know the strengths you bring.

And stop waiting for someone else to give you permission to recognize them.

The goal isn't to be the loudest person in the room.

The goal is to make sure your voice is not absent from the conversation.

Affirmation: I will not shrink to make others comfortable. I will take up space with confidence,

purpose, and intention.
