LEAD WHERE YOU ARE

Dear Sister,

Stop waiting for the title to start leading.

Leadership doesn't begin when someone gives you “Director,” “Manager,” “Dean,” or “Vice

President” after your name.

Leadership begins with influence.

It is how you communicate.

How you solve problems.

How you treat people.

How you respond under pressure.

How you advocate for yourself and others.

You can lead from your current position.

Lead from the classroom.

Lead from the staff meeting.

Lead from the project team.

Lead in your community.

But remember: leading doesn't mean doing everyone's work without recognition.

That's not sustainable leadership.

Strategic leadership means knowing your value, communicating your contributions, building

relationships, and advocating for opportunities.

Document your accomplishments.

Ask for stretch assignments.

Find mentors.

Build relationships with sponsors and decision-makers.

Speak up.

And don't confuse humility with silence.

You don't need a title to begin developing your leadership.

Start where you are.

Use what you have.

Lead with intention.
